A garden tour of eight outstanding gardens

with Penn State Master Gardeners of Centre County Cooperative Extension
Tickets available at all gardens: Adult $10
The garden tour will be held even if there is light rain so dress appropriately. In the case of very heavy rain, the garden tour will be rescheduled.
Penn State Master Gardeners of Centre County will act as guides at each garden. In addition, they will answer your general gardening questions on the tour.
Garden owners are not responsible for any accidents or injuries.
Gardens may have uneven surfaces. We ask that you wear appropriate footwear.
Please keep children in hand. Water features and uneven surfaces may pose a danger to children.
No pets allowed.
Directions to the gardens are follow. At each garden, consult the map or ask for directions to the next garden that you wish to visit.
JONES Garden, 320 Carogin Drive, State College
What a lovely, peaceful and beautiful setting is presented. The shaded front yard makes a great background for azaleas and rhododendrons. As you enter the gate to the back yard, you see many kinds of perennials and a rose garden. Directions: Heading north on N. Atherton Street, turn left at the traffic light onto Valley Vista Drive. Continue past Lowes on Valley Vista to Bachman Lane. Turn right then turn right onto Circleville Road. Turn left on Carogin Drive. The house is on the left side.
DRAPER Garden, 450 E. Irvin Avenue, State College
This garden was created years ago as an English garden--a bit informal, wild and colorful. Each year something is added such a bush, a new path, a rose garden, or a sitting area. Many varieties of vivid flowers contribute to a cheerful garden. Directions: From the Jones garden, take Atherton Street south to Park Avenue and turn left. Go past the Nittany Lion Inn to University Drive and turn right. Travel to E. Irvin Avenue and turn right. The house is on the left surrounded by a white fence.
YODER Garden, 1604 West Whitehall Road, State College
This garden has many awesome features to entertain you. There are garden islands, seating areas, a conversation area with fireplace, many ornamental trees and shrubs, and barrels filled with flowers. The swimming pool area has a working waterfall in the corner and a gazebo for relaxing. Directions: From the Draper garden turn right onto University Drive. Travel across S. Atherton Street on University Drive, which becomes Whitehall Road. The house is on the left side.
PUNCHEON/RUSSELL Garden, 729 Outer Drive, Harris Acres, State College
This garden’s wonderful park-like setting, nestled among countless evergreens and conifers, is interesting year round. Brick walkways and natural stone are everywhere. There are places to sit and reflect. This private haven invites visitors to surrender themselves to be a part of nature. Unique. Directions: From Yoder garden return to S. Atherton Street and turn right. Travel past Meyer Dairy store to the Harris Acres entrance sign and turn right. Turn right onto Outer Drive. The house is on the left.
CAMAZINE Garden, 310 West Main Street, Boalsburg
This four-acre hillside landscape overlooks Blue Spring Park in Boalsburg. Gardens surround the house and ponds. A fantastic two tiered water garden is divided by a 4-foot high waterfall. You will see bass, Koi, butterflies, birds, frogs and salamanders. A seating area covered with wisteria is just one feature in this beautiful natural haven. Directions: From Puncheon/Russell garden, return to S. Atherton Street and turn right to Boalsburg. At the traffic light (church on right, Pump Station coffee shop on left) turn right onto N. Church Street. Turn right onto W. Main Street. The house is on the left.
DAILEY Garden, 205 Shrineview Avenue, Boalsburg
This garden has lots of impact for its size. Shrubs, perennials, three water features, a built-in firepit, block retaining walls and ceramic containers filled with flowers are some of the highlights of this yard. Directions: From Camazine garden, return to traffic light at S. Atherton Street and N. Church. Go directly across S. Atherton to travel on the Boalsburg Pike to Shrineview Avenue then turn left. The house is on the right.
MOORE Garden, 1700 Linden Hall Road, Linden Hall
The setting for this garden is most definitely one of a kind. The terraced landscaping has a “heaven on earth” feel. A waterfall cascades into a pond beside the patio with a soothing sound. Natural paths bordered by flowers and several patios at different levels create a paradise. Directions: Ask for shortcut directions from 205 Shrineview Avenue. From State College, drive on S. Atherton Street to the traffic light at Warner Boulevard and Rt. 45/Pine Grove Mills and turn left. Go to Oak Hall and turn right on Linden Hall Road. Look for “The Barn” sign on the right. Request shortcut directions from Moore garden to Knaub garden.
KNAUB Garden, 109 Bubb Road, Colyer Lake
This extensive garden is only two years old. Flowers border a 50x90-foot fruit/vegetable garden edged with a 10-foot deer fence. The two+ acre site is home to wild dogwoods, scrub oaks, elderberries, raspberries and an assortment of trees. Herbs, spring bulbs, perennials, and annuals in decorative beds create a garden with something for everyone. Directions: Go on S. Atherton Street past Boalsburg onto Rt. 322 East for 4-5 miles. Pass Tait Farm Harvest Shop, Designers Studio, and Scotts Landscaping on the right to Taylor Hill Road. Turn right and go to Colyer Road. Turn right on Colyer Road, go over the bridge and turn right on Bubb Road to the house on the right.
